  • We often change an adjective into an adverb by adding -ly.
      late lately right rightly hopeful hopefully real really (NOT seaiy) definite definitely
      complete completely(NOT completly)
  • -y changes to -i- .
      happy happily easy easily dry drily
  • If an adjective ends in -Ie, we change -/eto -ly.
      idle idly noble nobly
  • If an adjective ends in -ic, the adverb ends in -icaiiy.
      tragic tragically
  • Exceptions: truly, wholly, fully, shyly, publicly.
